All The Heart Desires

Far beneath the waning sun
Where the darkening fields gently sway
And Summer’s breath begins to die
As the light divides

We each in our time walk a length of days
And love and miss the ones we’ve loved and lost
As we hold ourselves apart from the callous wind

These are the things we will not see again
And these the hours and the minutes too precious to keep
For these are the things we must set free
All at Summer’s end

As every dawn arrives a newborn naked to the world, so too, friends who become lovers. Where two intend on becoming one. Where two lay down their garments, their innermost protections. Where two surrender self to other. Not surrender in defeat but willing surrender to love herself. In first moments there is hesitancy, gentleness, more caress than fire. More tenderness than savagery. Here, time stills and night falls silent. There is only breath, only touch, only oneness. In discovering a new world, a world without aloneness, there is light. There is hope and it’s there, two cease to be two. What follows within the heart remains a mystery, but two, once self and other are no more. As every dawn arrives a newborn naked to the world, so too, friends who become lovers.
